Best summer event in Karlsruhe: Schlosslichtspiele
Since 2015 in Karlsruhe, Germany is developing one of the most beautiful shows I have been able to witness during my stay in Europe.
Schosslichtspiele or “Lights in the Castle” is a show full of colors that will blow your imagination.
The Baroque facade of the Palace that houses the Museum becomes the largest screen in Germany, projecting a series of works done to interact with the interior and facade of the building.
The festival consists of a series of projections of around 15 minutes each, showing dynamic projections (mapping) combined with music. High quality and state-of-the-art technology such as artificial intelligence interact with architecture and art creating a unique show in the world.
The best of all? It is FREE and the gardens of the Palace are filled with groups of friends, couples, and families that meet each evening to face this beautiful show.
Organized by Karlsruhe Event GMBH and the Center for Arts and Media ZKM Karlsruhe, this event hosts artists from the United States, Israel, Germany and Hungary, this year my favorites were definitely the works of MAXIN10SITY, which have made projections in Moscow, Berlin and even in the Bucharest Parliament in Romania.
The presentation this year was »STRUCTURES OF LIFE, 2017« developing a story related to the evolution of life on planet Earth, from unicellular organisms to our current history.
In 2015 they were also the most praised exponents with their presentation created especially for the 300th anniversary of the city of Karlsruhe, showing a projection with the history of the city.
