The Airport Nuevo Pudahuel, in Santiago Chile, is advancing to modernize and give a better experience for its users.
One of the most valued features by travelers is the possibility of Internet connection, and at the airport, it’s very important.
How many times have you been at the airport needing to download some important information from your email? Or just wanting to share your travel news with friends or family?
The airport evolution, in charge of ADP Group, VINCI Airports, and Astaldi Concessioni, will mean big changes scheduled to be completely implemented within the next four years, increasing the current 110 thousand square meters of its unique building, to 285000 sqm, and two terminals.
Thinking about its users, Nuevo Pudahuel Airport finally has a free and unlimited WiFi service, in charge of the company Nowire.
Two other new services announced as part of the improvements in Nuevo Pudahuel Airport are:
- An app “Aeropuerto SCL” (available for IOS and Android) that will deliver official and verified information by the airport, it has a special QR code reader, the passenger can use as points of information, you will also have access to exclusive discounts on airport retail.
- The other service- an idea that I truly loved! – it’s a platform with free access to Chilean authors books at no cost for all passengers, specially designed to accompany the waiting hours at the airport and support the national literature.
The connection is free and unlimited but requires a reconnection every 30 minutes. The service has coverage in all public spaces, including baggage carousels.
The WIFI network at New Pudahuel Airport has a 1Mbps data transfer per user, which can decrease to 512 Kbps at peak times, thus ensuring quality service that allows a smooth navigating.
Passengers who need broadband internet for downloading large files or link higher speed, will in the future the possibility of a premium feature with an associated cost.

How has it been the implementation of this service?
Since its implementation on April 28 to date, the service has greatly improved during the first trial days. I had visited several times the Nuevo Pudahuel airport and during the first days, the connection was not very stable and with some problems when accessing social networks.
Currently and until the publication of this article, the connection rate exceeds by far the minimum, which is 1Mbps, reaching often 50 times that speed, with a peak of 700 users connected simultaneously and a monthly average of 450 users. The application has been downloaded more than 2500 times. Only 6 cases have been detected with issues while connecting to social networks, which were problems in the passenger’s mobile operating system.
